LEAGUE LEAFLET
DAILY OFFERING
God, our Father, I offer you my day.
I offer you my prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys and sufferings in union with your Son Jesus Christ, who continues to offer himself in the Eucharist for the salvation of the world.
the Holy Spirit, who guided Jesus, be my guide and my strength today so that I witness to your love. With Mary, the mother of our Lord and of the Church, I pray especially for this month’s intentions as proposed by the Holy Father…
That our
Lord may bless farmers with abundant harvests and sensitize the richer nations
to respond to the ravages of hunger throughout the world.
That
Christians who work in areas where conditions are desperate for the poor, the
weak, women and children, may be signs of hope due to their courageous witness
to the Gospel of solidarity and love.
THE PARADOX of our times
We have
taller buildings, but shorter tempers
Wider
freeways, but narrower viewpoints
We spend
more, but have less
We buy
more but enjoy less
We have
bigger houses and smaller families
More
conveniences, but less time
We have
more degrees, but less sense
More
knowledge, but less judgment
More
experts, fewer solutions
More
medicines, but less wellness
We have
multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values
We talk
too much, love too seldom and hate too often
We have
learned how to make a living, but not a life
We’ve
added years to life, not life to years
We’ve
been all the way to the moor and back but have trouble crossing the street to
meet a new neighbor
We’ve
conquered outer space, but not inner space
We’ve
cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul
We’ve
split the atom, but not our prejudice
We’ve
higher incomes, but lower morals
We’ve
become long on quantity, but shorter on quality
These
are the times of the tall men, and shorter character
Steep
profits and shallow relationships
These
are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare
Of
fancier house, but broken homes
Probably
that’s why the help of spiritual guides are needed more and more in this era.
